Strive OT - Neuro OT at home
Welcome to Strive OT!
Strive OT offers private neurological occupational therapy at your home or in the community. Based in Southam, Warwickshire
Why Strive OT?
Occupational therapy, like life, is goal based. Everything we do, we do for a reason - our 'goal'. OT input will help you strive to reach these goals, addressing barriers as we progress.
Strive for success
At Strive OT I work together with you to identify what you want to achieve and support you to do this. For some this might be managing fatigue, others it will be to dress themselves. The possibilities are endless!
Who do I work with?
I work with individuals who are recovering from an illness or accident that has impacted on their ability to complete their previous activities of daily living.
Areas of speciality
My specific area of expertise is working with those who have had a brain injury. This might be an individual following a stroke or a traumatic brain injury
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational Therapy aims to maximise an individual's independence in activities of daily living following an injury or illness.
In occupational therapy, 'occupation' refers to the everyday activities that people do as individuals, in families and their communities to occupy time and bring meaning and purpose to life. Occupations include things people need to, want to and are expected to do. This could be getting dressed in the morning, going to work or doing the grocery shopping.
About Paula Adamson, StriveOT
Since qualifying as an OT in 2000, I have gained experience of working in acute and community hospitals, a specialist neuro-rehabilitation centre as well as in a community neuro-rehab team. I have worked with clients in a minimally conscious state through to those with subtle cognitive changes who require guidance to remain in full time employment or education.
I previously worked as a Brain Injury Case Manager for adults and children for a leading Case Management company and I am aware of the litigation process and the impact this has on a client and the family.
I am registered with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and BAOT (British Association of Occupational Therapy). I have enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) clearance as well as professional indemnity insurance.
I am a member of the following organisations:
• Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) Specialist Section -
Neurology
• RCOT Specialist Section - Independent Practice
• United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum (UKABIF)
I work solely as a self employed Occupational Therapist.
